Hanalei Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of Kauai. Not only can you see the beautiful mountains from the shore, but the waters are crystal clear. While there are several hotels and rental places in the area where you can visit, I would recommend one of the Hanalei Bay Resort condos, especially since they are afforded the same amenities as the resort guests from pool access to restaurant services. While there are several condos that you can choose from in this area, I do prefer 6302. One of our greatest surfers has died this week. Andy Irons’ ashes were released into Hanalei Bay in Kauai Sunday, November 14, 2010. There was a big ceremony and several famous surfers and celebrities were in attendance. Of course, there were hundreds present, many of them natives, people who admired the man and were sorry to see him gone. While there has been no word as of yet about the reasons for Irons’ death, we do know that he will be sincerely missed. There are few truly great surfers in the world, and I personally consider Irons to be one of them.
